RE: Follow up on my 4kq search. (painfully long)



Here is what I was able to conclude. On the 2wd 4000, the muffler is mounted
front-to-back with a straight pipe leading to it and a straight pipe
exiting. On the Quattro model, the muffler is mounted sideways, with a pipe
that has to go up-and-over the rear differential to the resignator. This is
all one peice along with the exiting tail pipe (which has to be 'L' shaped).
On my car, the muffler, the tail pipe and the pipe leading to the resignator
all needed to be replaced.
