Interim Report - 86 4000KS

Got my car back with new clutch. Chatter was caused by loose clutch springs -
really loose. What a difference!

Ran a can of Techron as prescribed by list. Then changed oil to Mobil1 &
Mobil1 filter as prescribed by Ted. Result - engine runs smoother but afterrun
not gone.The only cure for afterrun so far has been 93 octane fuel. ANY
SUGGESTIONS?

During clutch job, mechanic replaced worn tie rod ends. Seems to have
eliminated noise which sounded like a bearing problem when veering hard to the
right.

Smell of coolant when heat is on. Suspect heater core, but no leaks found and
no steamy windows. Any ideas?

All in all, car runs and handles great. Really would like to eliminate
afterrun without paying for a higher grade gas than 87. Someone on the list
felt the cause may be carbon deposits. Any suggestions on how to eliminate
this or any other possible cause.
