To a degree, you're right, but it doesn't seem to have been a problem with
the QClub's discounts, and I doubt that QCUSA mails them a cross-referenced
mailing list every year either.
To be honest, all I'm saying is that while charging is reasonable, I'm not
sure that charging for the "first contact", i.e. for the list itself, is
going to help membership. Charging for the extras that come along later
(whether that's discounts, archives, bumper stickers or whatever) makes more
practical sense to me.
