The clock on my '85 CGT failed with this mode in 1990 or so.   A couple 
years later my wife called me out to the garage after driving it.  
"See, I fixed it for you" she said pointing down at the dash.  Sure 
enough, the clock was working again.  Hasn't stopped since.

She hasn't been able to do anything with the broken odometer though.
