I rechecked the compatibility charts and yes, Kirby is right, it looks like
Viton may well work fine (OTOH, EPDM which I can get cheap does not fare well
against petrolium oil). The maximum temperature range is 400-600 degrees f. We
stock the stuff in a .18" ID or .25" ID with decent wall thickness. The
downside is that the material cost (in bulk as we are a manufacturer that uses
it for parastaltic pumps) is $4.04 per foot. Still maybe worth it if it truely
would be the last time one needed to swap out vacuum lines--maybe. How many
feet would it take? 20? (That would be about 6.1 meters to be internationaly
correct ;-)...)
Leading me back to my question...what size are the vacuum lines on the turbo
I5? They look bigger than the 3.5mm ID I am accustomed to. (No, I have no
snipped one off to measure cuz I want my car to keep running until I get some
and the stretched out ends are not a good place to measure.) TIA
