Well, I have a couple of them. If it's leaking from the seal, it's a
relatively easy fix. If it's not, diffs are expensive. Noisy doesn't
sound too promising as these came with synthetic from the factory. If it's
leaking and he's never topped off the fluid.... ;-(
If the fuses with the red cap on them (they're in where spare fuses used to
be and they should have a red cap that says "Motor" or "Engine" on them)
are burned out, the car shouldn't even be running.
88 90Qs go for $3000 on up; depending on mileage (average is 140-160K
miles), condition and upkeep.
I would have it checked out by a competent Audi-familiar (very important)
mechanic. Where are you located?
