Sounds like (a) the screws that hold the rear of the lid to the slide frame
have come loose and/or fallen out and (b) some one's buggered the works.
Removing the motor assembly (is it electric?) or crank assembly, will
release the cables so you can move things by hand. Before you do that,
you should try to gain access to the lid attachments by sliding back the
interior panel. The normal deal is to move the sunroof into the tilt-up
position so you can reach in from the outside with a long hook wire to
release the springs which pull open the vent flap on this panel. Once done,
the interior panel just slides rearward into the roof well, exposing the
lid attachments and slide mechanism. If the sunroof is so hosed that it
can't be tilted either, I'm not sure what to tell you.

With regard to getting things lined up again, there is good potential for
getting yourself into a mess here, so proceed with caution. If you have
been toying with buying the Bentley manual for the car, I think now is
a real good time.
