Nomination #1 for the Hall of Shame:  Consultenos, Panama City, Panama.
The A/C in my 1988 90 20V Q ceased to function so, because Audi expertise is
limited here I took the car to the only Audi dealer in Panama.  They
inspected the car for me (for $120) and gave me an estimate for $1200 to
replace the entire A/C system.  I doubted their assessment so I took the car
to a general A/C specialist.  They found two bad fuses and a bad interior
thermostat.  Total bill for parts and labor: $50.  I took the receipt back
to Consultenos for a refund of my $120 inspection fee since they were so far
off and they not only refused but they stood by their estimate, even though
my A/C was and still is working perfectly now.  I wrote to Audi in Germany,
they passed me to Audi USA, they passed me to Audi Brazil and I haven't
heard a word since.
