Sounds metaphysical :-)

My car (I5) has a serious oil leak at the front crank seal and it does not
"consume" nor exude as much as a quart every 1k miles. If it is still under
warranty I'd certainly demand an explanation and make sure they mark it on
the work order.

it uses approx. 1+ quart every 1M miles.  It doesn't leak or burn, just
consumes.
