Frank and All:
Unfortunately, I will be out of state this weekend, so I won't be able to
attend the fest; otherwise, I'd be there, wherever that is.
My S4 now has the bigger turbo. I was beginning to feel like the S4 Poster
Child. Last outing at Stapleton, I shelled my turbo (again). It was the
stock K24 with a larger intake opening. It was very fast but not very
strong. The TAP chip I have apparently overboosted it, and at the very same
place on the course, it let go, blowing out the bottom (thankfully) of the
turbo housing and filling my exhaust pipe with shreds. They rattled nicely.
Dave installed the next bigger turbo, which I believe is the K28, with a
smaller intake turbine, which allows faster spool-up but retains the longer,
stronger boost. Sounds like something Monica Lewinsky would like! Anyway,
so far, I'm happy with it, although I suspect the bigger turbo will require
an increase in the intercooler capacity. At this point I think I have
something in the vicinity of 350 plus HP. Next step is Dave's new brake
package!
Please keep me posted on any future events. See y'all.
Jim
