poor idle.....and thinner additive

oops, i forgot to mention than in any possible ignition problem..find the
darkest place you can find...like pitch black.. and lift the hood while the
engine is running. any corona or arcing is then visible.

for those following my test of paint thinner as an additive for octane
boost...i filled up two days ago and did not add the thinner this time....on
hard accelleration the knocking was back but not as bad as before the test.
and the van testbed (82 ford 5 litre v8) idles better, starts better and
runs smoother. the next fill i'll add 2 oz of thinner.
