New A4 in the family!

Greetings!

This last weekend my wife Donna, daughter Portia, and I went to buy my
Mother-in-law a new car. She's 81 and needed saftey. After reviewing the
current lot of CR recommended choices (she "trusts" this mag...), we decided
to start with the newly recommended FWD 1.8T Passat. After sitting in this
at the local VW/Audi/Porsche showroom, it didn't take long to figure out
that she needed power seats (heated for that matter...) and the benefits of
all wheel drive. So..... a short walk to the Audi section fixed this. The
dealer in MA just happened to get a 1996 Casablanca White 5sp-auto A4 2.8
quattro traded in last Thurs. Donna and I know that these get snached up
like hot cakes, so we had her test drive it. Wow, she took to this A4 like a
hot knife through butter and now is an 81 year old A4 2.8 quattro driver!
It has 39K miles, driven by an older couple and was serviced and originally
bought from this dealer. Clean.

Having owned mostly GM autos, this Audi was a huge step up for them. I was
with her in the test drive and I even liked this auto A4! Nice cars, and
can't wait to see it later this week in between turkey chomping. I'll give
it a "Thompsonized" test drive and careen over it as well. This car still
has until May 31, 1999 on the factory warrantee and then because it was
purchased "used" from an Audi dealer starts an additional 2 year/75K mile
used factory warrantee! I'll keep you posted on how and if she decides to
go to any of our NEQ driving schools in the future. You will see a story on
it in the gripster. Another quattro for our family!
