H'audi:
The VIN# is WAUDC0856EA9008XX, and, as
discussed recently on the list, the
Vin interpreter information doesn't
make much sense in this case.
I went out with my friend to inspect the URQ today, and
we were both surprised by what we found. The car has
been sitting outside for over a year. There are
rust spots and slight rust perforations at several
locations. The body needs to be completely done over.
There are numerous dings and dents, looks like this
thing has hit everything except the lottery. But there
were no indications of serious damage, everything was
straight and where it should be. The interior is OK,
with normal aging/drying of the leather interior. It's
got the gold 5 lug rims and wide tires (needs tires too.)
According to the owner, car was running perfectly
till he let his brother in law use it, car was
blowing white smoke when he returned it. Hasn't
been started or run since. Last thing that was
done to the car was new struts/shocks and some
suspension work.
After seeing the car....I'm enthusiastic about it
again. The rear flares and the wide tires make
this a very sharp looking car, especially if you
take the year into account.
I'm going to make an offer of $2000.00, and will
go up to $2500. The body work/paint will run at
least $1500, and I'm figuring another $2000 worth
of parts should get the rest into shape. I've tried
to convince myself otherwise, but I'm smitten, this
is like a second marriage, you go in with your eyes
open, knowing what to expect, but you do it anyway...
I don't know if the owner is going to bite. But I
really doubt he'll get any takers at the $4000
he thinks the car is worth.
