The only issue with shipping via the USPS or any other carrier that
does not have truly international network is that once the item arrives
at the destination country it is turned over to that country's Postal
agency. The USPS does have liability agreements with many countries
but claims processing is a nightmare. The odds are greatly in your
favor that the item _will_ arrive in good condition, but if the item
is particularly valuable or going to a "developing" country you might
be better served paying the extra $.

My opinion based on doing some International Claims process analysis
for the USPS. Were any improvments made based on my analysis? No,
but I made a few bucks:)
