... good grief, this IS a popular subject lately! As I stated in a previous
message, the service manual is available on microfiche from Dyment
Distribution (800-544-8021) by ordering part number W42 544 190 F ... when I
bought my set not that long ago the price with shipping was less than US$35.

I have found a few other documents that Dyment has that might be of interest
to V8 owners ... prices are in US dollars and do not include taxes or
shipping ...

W42 501 141 F - 1990-91 V8Q Wiring Diagrams (microfiche) [$10]
W42 901 501 160 - 1990 100/200/V8 Wiring Diagrams (paper) [$??]
W42 911 501 160 1 - 1991 100/200/V8 Wiring Diagrams (paper) [$48]
W42 WD Book AU 02 - 1992-94 V8 Wiring Diagrams [$21]
WSP 521 201 00 - Audi V8Q Service Training Manual [$15]

It is possible to get the list of TSBs issued in a year from 1985-1996 on
fiche for around $15 each. 1997 and on is availble at US$4 for the first
bulletin, and US$2 for subsequent bulletins.

Also listed were Warranty Books and Owner's Manuals for pretty much every
model and year from the 1970 Audi Super 90 (W42 550 1781) to the 1999 A8
(WSA991 5614D221) ... cost of each is basically $10 each

You can get your own copy of the list I'm reading from Dyment ... which is
titled "Audi Service Publications Index Fall 1998" ... I'm pretty sure the
list is free for the asking. It has a lot more stuff than what I have
listed here. Dean Futrell has been able to locate a few of the Audi books
as well probably at a cost that may be competative to Dyment ... although
there aren't that many that apply to the V8. Check the q-list archives for
11/15 and 11/19 if you want to know more about what he has available ...

... wow ... someone who owns a Taurus/Sable that didn't have to have the
tranny replaced ... :-)

Congrats on the purchase of the V8 ... I hope it provides you years of
driving enjoyment!

... while I'm at it, here's some information relating to the A8 that I
collected for Frank Santoro ...

Model: Audi A8, Model Years: From 1997 - W42 015 196 000 - Repair Manual
Set, complete with folders & slipcases

There are a few other things you might want to try to get from the dealer as
well ... like a list of the current TSBs that apply to the A8 ... there seem
to be a few of them in the list I have. I see a few self-study programs
listed that apply to the A8 as well ...

WSP 521 224 00 - Audi A8 vehicle & body
WSP 521 225 00 - Audi A8
WSP 521 226 00 - ABS/EDL/TC (Bosch 5) in Audi A8
WSP 521 227 00 - 1997 Audi A8 Heating and AC
