I'm having problems envisioning how this would help.  The problem is
that the hose is collapsing in on itself.  The way I'm picturing your
solution, it would only help if the hose was expanding outwards under
pressure.

Am I missing something here?

Another alternative to the rigid metal pipe that I suggested might be to
head towards NAPA with some measurements and look through their
selection of semi-truck cooling system hoses.  This is what I did for my
turbo outlet to IC connection and it worked quite well.  

Judging from the thickness and rigidity of that hose, I doubt you'd have
any problems with it collapsing.
