Re: Type-44 5k with TDI engine?

That's what I thought too. Powerful engine and nice sound. I like
diesel engines too.

As I said, somebody told me that the bolt locations for all the
5-cylinder Audi engine are the same, doesn't matter if it's gas or
diesel, turbo or NA, 115 or 230 hp..

The later 2.5 TDI-cars used a 6-speed manual tranny. It would be great
to use this, but I'm not an Audi God, only a hobby mechanic with some
experience. :-)
Maybe Audi used the same tranny size on the FWD A6 TDI as they did on
the older cars?
How about the torque? Will the normal 5k tranny handle the much higher
torque of the TDI engine?

But here the "usual" problem is appearing.
If I ever decide to do this project, I have two ways of doing it:
1. Using 5k tranny and TDI engine.
2. Using TDI 6-speed tranny and engine.

Option 2 sounds like the best, but I wonder if it's possible without
some expen$sive don't-do-it-yourself work (like body welding etc.)
The wiring for the TDI engine is pretty complex, but as I've told you
before, a friend of mine is the manager at a VW/Audi dealer. He is the
man that almost can install and remove a V8 engine with his eyes
closed.. And he has got access to all factory manuals etc.

Thanks!
