Re: Type-44 5k with TDI engine?

I beg to ask, why not just buy a 5k TD?

They were made throughout the 5K model line. Pretty wimpy power though.
Well under 150hp. Not to mention a PITA to start in the winter time, a
PITA if you need to jump start it(BTDT with a Mercedes Diesel; it took 5
tries and severely taxed my 200's alternator) and they weigh a TON. About
the only advantage is milage(and supposed better emissions, but too many
diesels are not properly maintained and pollute more than gasoline
vehicles.)

1-2 have been seen out and around new england. They are EXTREMELY rare
here, so I guess that's your main problem. My economics professor(a big
fan of diesels, just bought a Jetta TDI) saw one once, followed it, and
asked the owner, on the spot, how much he would be willing to part with the
car for. The guy turned him down.

In any case, I think it would be easier to track one down than build it.
Cheaper, as well!
