You in the US didn't get the 2.5 I5 TDI, while Europe has got plenty
of them. The I5 TDI is now superseded by med V6 TDI, mainly due to the
fact that the I5 doesn't fit into the new A6 engine bay)
We got the 2.5 TDI in 3 versions:
120 hp (used 1990-1991 in type 44 cars, extremely rare)
115 hp (used 1991-1994 in C4 100 cars, pretty common)
140 hp (used 1995-1997 in C4 A6 cars with 6-speed tranny, common)

That's the old fashioned turbo diesel. Probably easyto install, but
too slow. I will be using the car for some moderate to heavy towing,
so the TDI will be perfect for my needs..

Installing the TDI manifold and downpipe, and use a custom bent pipe
to connect to the standard exhaust.. I think this will be pretty ok.

The TDI is fully computer controlled, I think. But the glow plugs and
shut off solenoid will be there, but probably computer controlled.
