Re: 95 S6 Remote Locking/quattro coupe sighting

Bob,
Here's what you do: 1) get a spring loaded clothes pin, 2) attach it to the
key so that the remote button is being depressed, 3) stand 30 feet from the
car, 4) throw the key and clothes pin at the car. At some point the
infrared signal will hit the receiver and there you are!! LOL!

I seem to recall that my manual states a max distance of roughly 12 feet to
activate the remote locking. Just yesterday, I would say I was a good 8 -
10 feet away from the car and I was able to unlock it. 30 feet is a
fantasy.

  Stephan,

Either my IR remote lock/unlock is not functioning properly or it would
appear you have a decimal error. Three feet, not thirty, is more like it
for my S6. BTW, this did not change with fresh batteries for the IR
transmitter in the key. The IR receiver in the B pillar is clean. The
line of sight is unobstructed. Sometimes I can operate it from as far
  away
as either bumper - never any greater distance. Sometimes I must approach
as close as about 1 foot distance to operate the locks. Three feet seems
  about the usual sensitivity.

Anyone have a suggestion which might allow me the luxury of unlocking the
  doors from 30 feet?
