Re: A6/100 Fuel Filter Question

     Sam,

I replaced the fuel filter on my car this past weekend (92 100S,
same body style/engine configuration as yours). What you see IS
the fuel filter. The bracket is NOT welded to the filter. There
are 2 bolts that hold the bracket to the inner fender. BUT under
the filter on the engine side is a 3rd bolt. This bolt tightens
the band to hold the filter.

     So here's what you do:
        1) remove the fuel lines from both sides (be ready for about a
quart of fuel to drip out.
        2) loosen that 3rd nut as far as you can without removing it
           from the bolt entirely.
        3) twist and wiggle the old filter out.
        4) put in new filter, tighten bolt and reattach lines with new
           copper gaskets.

     Good Luck,
