Sounds reasonable... Excess oil entering the combustion chambers will also
cause carbon build-up. This build-up will lower the detonation threshold
two ways; one, by creating hot-spots and two, by increasing the effective
mechanical compression by reducing combustion chamber volume. I would guess
that this would not be enough to break a rod and that there was an
additional 'problem in there', perhaps excessive advance under boost due to
an 'improper'  F/TCU modification or, remotely, the rotor issue.
