Is the cold air from center vents "normal" on a 4k?

I submitted the following a year or so ago. I worked with Opel Engineering
in the late 70's on HVAC issues. They continued this feature on heater only
cars but eliminated it on A/C cars after the Ascona Coupe around 1980.
>Long after the US had adapted A/C as standard equipment, the Germans were
still making heater only cars, throwing an evaporator and recirc door at
them and shipping them to the colonies.

>The idea of the cold center vents is for cool weather and winter driving.
You can blast down the Autobahn at 200 kph with toasty warm feet and by
cracking open the center vents get a little cool air in your face so you
don't fall asleep. It actually works ok in a heater only car but is awful
when used with A/C in moderate conditions. The center temperatures can be
bone chilling.
