Yes, there is a friction pre-load bolt that can tighten things up.
Pop the hood, and look at the firewall where the steering column
comes in. Right against the firewall, there should be a small box
with a flat top about 4"x2". This has a bolt head right in the middle.
Make sure there is no play in the bolt first, then tighten it by
1/8 of a turn and see if it is better. If not, do another 1/8 of
a turn, that's all I'd suggest. Too tight and the steering wheel
gets stiff and won't recenter by itself.

Reset the CO mixture. My 100Q did this until I reset it according
to Bentley. If you do it with the hoses connected (or is it not
connected?) in defiance of proper procedure, you get this symptom.

Maintenance. Get a good shop to look it over after you check the fluid.
