4000 turbo conversion advice
Hello fellow Q-listers,
I was wondering if anyone out there with a 4000q w/5kturbo conversion could
give me a dollar amount on the total conversion. I have a 5kt motor from an
84 5kt, complete with wiring harness, downpipe, and intercooler.
I have been looking around, and it seems that I could pick up a 4kq for
around $1500-$4000, depending on year and condition.
Basically, I am trying to figure out how much money and time it would take
to build a turbo 4k. Right now, I'm driving a two-door 4k with a hopped up
4 cyl, and considering bagging the project and move up to a 4kqt.
Ive got a couple of friends that think its just too much time and money for
a daily driver, and are steering me toward a 16v, turbocharged, Special
Performance Group Car that is made in sweden by a company that makes
airplanes, if you know what I am talking about. They assure me that with a
couple minor tweaks, I could easily be in the 230-250 hp range, and not
have to convert any motors or anything else to do this. Buy it, and drive
it.
Being a married man, time is very precious to me, so I'm leaning toward
thier suggestion. But, I just wanted a little input from the q-list people
first.
TIA,
Chris Bishop
