The car is the earlier version(single knock sensor).
This car was mentioned by a list member a while back as being for sale
in LA for $4500 with a burned up wiring harness. Since I have a 86
5000SW in my garage that I'm almost done converting over to a MC turbo
5spd with all the wiring, I figured it would be pretty easy to replace
the harness. Audi of Van Nuys, CA (Where the car was) quoted $1800 to
$2400 to replace the wiring harness. Scared the hell out of the owner
(movie actor). He had already put in close to $4000 in the last year,
new rack, M. Cyl. and Slv. Cyl., timing belt and W. Pump and so forth.
He did not know how to repair cars and thought that if you were to
repair
it right take it to the dealer ($$$$). They sure stuck it to him.
There is alot more to this story but it would take to long to tell. The
car is valcano red (great for spotting by state patrol) with grey sports
seats. Body in exc. shape except needs good buff and wax. Interior
excellent shape except for burn in middle of passenger seat. Things
I've fixed or replaced are bad drivers & passenger window switch,
drivers window cable/motor. The wiring harness harness took me longer
to replace than I figured, because I pulled the dash. Took awile but in
the long run made the job easier.
The 89 200 wiring I think is alot less complicated that the earlier 5000
turbo/quattro cars. The car runs pretty good except it has less power
than my X 84 5000 Turbo slush box. Passing with that car was really
fantastic.
