I _think_ the A1/A2 GTI, for example.  They use a sandwich plate right above
the filter where the oil and coolant both flow through (separate passages) and
one warms/cools the other.  Slight chance to have one blow through and mix
oil/water, I'd suppose.  Coolant warms up first, so it helps get the oil
flowing faster, too.
