Two reservoirs, and each has its own pump.

The reservoir towards the front of the car is actually for
the windshield. The one for the headlights is mounted within
the fender, and the filler is towards the rear of the engine
compartment.

>From your description, it sounds more like a problem with the
windshield washer system. Typical failure mode is the tube
between the two jets at the back of the hood pops out. You'll
get no water out of the jets -- it just gushes out of the
disconnected tube. The cascading water sound your heard is
probably the washer fluid draining under the cowel and down
in front of the doors. I fixed mine by pushing the tube back
on and replacing the old zip-ties that hold it on, but you
may need to replace the tube, too.
