Re: urq (or any audi) costs per year

I will have owned my '84 Ur-q for two years now and I have to say that IMHO
some of these maintenance costs seem a little out of line. This might be
because the previous owner had changed to a MC engine, done all the suspension
bushes. In two years and 11,000 miles the car has left me stranded once,
which was because of driver error, when the alternator bracket broke and the
system was not getting a charge. But other then that if I have put $500.00
into it, it has been a lot. I do change the oil every 4-5K miles using
synthetic. I have had to replace the Bomb, Throttle cable, some shifter
bushings, break pads, and various nuts and bolt which seem to have a
propensity to sheer off the front of the engine. I have done all the work so
far myself and I can say that the engine bay is no fun to work in. Since I
have owned the car it has not idled well or at time at all. I have checked a
lot of things but cannot figure it out so I will eventually take it away to
get the thing sorted before I add a bit more BHP. I think I bought the car
for a very reasonable price two years ago and I knew that I was buying an
"exotic" car that would require attention but I have to say that I have been
very happy with the way the Audi Gods have treated me. I love my Ur-q and I
don't think I will ever get rid of it. Since I have owned it I have not pass
one other one on the road and I like that, I also love the way it drives.
What is better then driving a Ur-q in the rain and getting to pretend you are
Walter Rohl, I LOVE IT. Good luck to all you Ur-q owners, now and in the
future.

Cheers,
Jim
