CV joint mixing
When I was talking to the guy at Jorgen Automotive (ordering my
incredibly cheap UrQ steering rack) he told me that there are two ways
to remanufacture CV joints. Depending on the model and type you may have
to remachine the cups and use larger balls. OR, they sometimes just flip
the cage around and let the balls wear on a different surface, almost
good as new. I haven't pulled apart a CV joint on my UrQ in 2 years but
I can't help thinking that next time I rebuild one I'll attempt to see
if the cage can be switched. This may or may not work with the inner
ones. I think it would actually work better because on the outer ones
you can't "flip" the axle stub housing. HTH.
