Darrin;
The terminals on the 9004 bulbs don't have enough surface area to handle
the higher amperage loads the 80/110 watt bulbs impose. They tend to
overheat and melt the connectors, particularly if the terminals and/or
connectors are dirty and impose added resistance. Compare the thin terminals
on the 9004 bulbs to the hefty ones on H4 bulbs.
