14.4 volts on the headlamps

NO!!! NO!!! NO!! please NO RESISTOR. ( if you are really
concerned, just remove the relay you added.....kind of
counter productive, right?
You should be glad you are getting 14.4, but I would suspect
your voltmeter, its rare those alternators give out over 14.0 volts
Which reminds me, Mark Pollan suggested his alternator went south
at 253,000 miles. I suspect it may have been alternator #2, or at least
the brushes were replaced between 125,000 and 175,000.
