A much-modified version of the 100/200/5000 cars.

The 4000 was called 80/90 in Europe at the time.

And shared some of the stuff with Passats of the period, I think. The Coupe
GT was on a modified 80/90/4000 base.

And the Coupe and Cabriolet on a shortened version thereof.

The new A6 is built on a stretched A4/Passat platform.

The all-alloy A8 shares its platform with no other car.

The Audi A3, new Golf, new Jetta (Bora) New Beetle and the Audi TT share a
platform. It's called the a4 (lowercase a, as in VW chassis designations).

Hope this clears up matters a bit.
