Re: Radio Antenna or Antennas on 200QW

BTDT

Here's what I found out so far. The sedan has a front antenna booster and and a
rear antenna amplifier, the wagon only has the rear antenna amplifier. The
front antenna is for FM only and the rear is for both AM/FM. So what the wagon
folks will run into is a "missing" lead out of the radio for the front antenna
and if you take the passenger A-pillar off you will find the loose connector
from the front windshield.

You could do what I did and that was spend $25 on the cable to go from the
radio to the (I know now) front antenna booster, but there is no booster (at
least that I have found and I can safely say that I had the dash 85% out
looking, so if it's in there, it's well hidden!) I went ahead and spliced the
cable from the radio to the windsheild cable and the FM reception is a bit
better (staions that used to come in 60 miles away now come in 70 miles away -
yes that sounds far, but picture Indiana and Ohio = flat), but only when
heading towards the city, same reception heading away from the source.

Probably not worth the $25 and effort to do it.

Does that mean we wagon owners can save some money on replacement windshields
by getting ones without the built in antennas?
