Re: Static shock

My A4 with 100% synthetic cloth Cobra Daytonas zaps so hard it could
make a lab frog contract its muscles. I habitually close the door with
my elbow against the glass.

The 200 with cloth Recaros almost does not zap at all (high cotton
content fabric).
This effect seems to be more noticeable in the winter (dry air).

The common solution for this in the wintery Russia was to attach a
special rubber/wire impregnated antistatic belt to the chassis of the
car. Worked rather well indeed. I used to attach mine to the underbelly
somewhere in the dead centre to make it invisible (in Russia in my time
two antistatic belts attached symmetrically to either side of the RR
bumper and studded with the light reflectors were the same signature
trade mark items of ...mmmmm... the same crowd which here in the States
is big on smoked headlights and such.)

I wonder if they sell antistatic belts here in the States.
