Tempered spring mounts, etc.

All these metal goodies are not tempered or in any other way special - the
problem here is metal fatigue. Bend it (crunch!), then hammer it back, and
it is significantly less resistant to bending again - and possibly even
breaking.

There are places around the world where NOTHING is available, and
consequently NOTHING gets thrown away if there's even the slightest chance
of re-using it (of course, one of those places is my garage . . . ), so
Audi feels it necessary to warn people that no, you can't fix this, you'll
compromise it's strength and your safety!

Of course, they ALSO have no objection whatsoever to your buying a new one.
