Watch out with the lubing. If you use thin oil, or too much of it the
'pumping action' of the turning drive cable will pull the oil towards the
speedo head and wreck it. The speedos themselves are actually somewhat
calibrated on their lubrication- change that, and the speedo's either dead
or its indication is way off.
