We used to live in Los Alamos, but before owning Audi's. I know a couple
of Audi owners there, and would be glad to have them contact you, so lemme
know.
Los Alamos is God's Country, and because in Los Alamos County the Federal
Government pops for snow removal (as well as 'bout everything else -- take
a look at Los Alamos' per capita federal funding, which is 10+ times the
national average (http://www.census.gov/statab/USA96/06/081.txt)), the
roads were generally excellent. In and around Santa Fe, not so good.
Still lots of unpaved roads, and winter exacting a heavy toll on the paved
ones.
I'll assume your job possibility is at the Lab. Be forewarned that they
roll up the sidewalks at 9 p.m. in Los Alamos. Towards that end, I
witnessed more than a few single people leaving within a month of
arriving. That notwithstanding, it's a zero-crime, affluent, and
terminally over-educated community. I've never seen such civic pride
elsewhere.
Here's an excellent, unbiased write-up on Los Alamos --

Good luck with your decision.
