First time in Darmouth NS
Well I never thought I would get the chance, but today for the first time
since I bought my '83 Ur-Q in December of 1994 I was able to wave to another
Ur-Q driver. Now I know this isn't impossible in most places, but when you
consider that there are only two Ur-Qs in all of Nova Scotia (population
approximaterly 1 million) and I currently own both of them, meeting another
one on the street is a rare occasion to say the least. I was on my way to
work and I had pulled up to a set of lights, low and behold there was a gold
coloured '83 going the opposite direction also waiting for the lights. We
waved and nodded and moved on our way. Although I know who it was in the
other '83 we have never met. Kevin Bent is living in Ontario and is likely
home to Nova Scotia to visit with his parents for the holidays. His car was
originally from Colorado and came north some years ago when the then owner
moved to Halifax. Kevin's father bought it when the owner was transferred out
of Nova Scotia. Mr. Bent senior drove it a couple of years, in fact one of
the few times I saw it on the road, Mrs. Bent was driving. At any rate Kevin
bought it from his father and took it off to Ontario. I know Kevin's younger
sister Dawn was upset she never got to try the car. Nice car, and a thrill
for me to be able to wave to a fellow Ur-Q owner. Kevin give me a call while
you are home and we can have a beer or coffee, chat at least.
There were only 99 Ur-Qs imported to Canada between '82 to '86.
