First time for everything: I spit at an Audi this morning
To: quattro
Excuse the venom during this holiday season, but I'm writing this in the
hopes that the driver of the navy-blue A4 that I spit at this morning will
read it.
Boston, Back Bay Station, 7:40 am, 15degF.
A young mother is pushing her small child in a collapsible stroller as she
enters the cross walk on Dartmouth Street. Cars are driving by and cannot
readily stop for her; a navy-blue A4 is in the line of cars. I see the gap
grow between the A4 and the car in front it. The mother takes a step
forward. The A4 picks up speed and the mother instinctively steps back. I
was about 10-15 yards away in the street and the A4 was heading in my
direction. I pointed at the mother and child, exaggerated mouthing the
phrase "You f-n loser!", and spit at the car as it went by me. I don't
condone my action. I was a jerk. Still, I'd like to punch the guy.
One thought... when a mom is pushing her kid, the child is IN FRONT. The
mother stepped forward and the driver of the A4 INCREASED his speed.
Sir (and I say that with a full-on sarcastic tone), if you are reading
this, you are a jerk. The next time you see someone, especially a mom and
child, on a freezing cold day, in a cross walk... let them pass, as you sit
coddled in your heated, luxurious cocoon. If you're wondering which one of
the passers-by I was and would like to continue this conversation... 6'4",
200lbs, black hair, long black leather coat, black jeans, black shoes.
Please come find me.
I just cannot believe how much this is bothering me. I'm usually as
cold-hearted as the next guy... ask Paul Royal. Just something about the
weather conditions, the holiday season, and the inherent danger of having
the child out in front... it bothers me. A lot.
Please lets not have this tirade turn into a list-wide "good job/you're a
jerk, too" discussion. Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays.
