Re: 86 5kcstq: fuel accumulator
It holds fuel pressure, kind of like a bomb for the fuel system.
I'm replacing everything between the tank and the main hood in the next
week or two. I got my pump and accumulator from All European Auto
(800-ALL-EURO). They were cheaper than Linda (by $50) and TPC (by $30).
Have to get the sealing washers, fuel lines and banjo bolts from the dealer
though - Linda was way cheaper than my local one. Make sure you've got all
the right parts though BEFORE you start. I just got my stuff from Linda
and there were a few items missing, a few "extra" items and a couple that
were wrong. I plan on loose fitting the entire assembly on the bench and
then replacing it all in one fell swoop. Loosening the fuel fittings is
best done gingerly with a rag covering the fittings with your eyes closed
and head turned away.
As an aside: why would you consider an iname account temporary? They're
permanent and you can forward to any email address if you change your
"real" address. I've been using this one for over a year now and it works
great: just give everyone the iname.com address and have it forward to
whatever ISP you're really using.
