The
latter is what I have to do with my QSW and a Sony deck.

You can use your factory harness and not change a thing if your factory radio
was not switched. All you have to do is go to your local Volkswagen dealer
and buy a radio power adapter, part # 200 035 447, and plug it in-between the
radio and the factory harness. This is assuming you still have the factory
harness in your car and your car originally had the 10-8-8 ISO block
connectors on the radio. If your new stereo does not switch on after this I
would suspect that your Blaupunkt is bad or your fuse for the radio is bad
which it could have been blown during the installation. Check these things
first.
