Steering groan and brake noise

Hi,

I was just wondering if anyone might be able to shed some light on a teering
noise.  When I steer away from the straight-ahead position, especially at
losw speeds (high effort?), I hear a groan or squeaking sound.  I have also
recently seen what appear to be mineral oil spots on the driveway.  I'm
wondering if this could be a sign of a steering rack problem, or something
(hopefully) more benign.

Another problem I've just encountered concerns the brakes.  They squeal when
applied at low speeds, and squeak rythmically when turned off-ceneter at
high speeds.  Any opinions appreciated.
