Returned from Christmas trip in UrQ

Just successfully completed my Christmas trip from WI to NC (the "Deliverance"
part) to visit the folks.

920 miles in 13 hours (including food and rest stops) each way. Gotta love the
UrQ and the V-1! A bit over 2000 miles total for the week. First time I've
had the UrQ in the mountains... this car was made for spirited driving on
mountain roads. Absolutely terrific... and of course ANY Audi is pretty much
an exotic in those parts of the country. (Luckily avoided the worst of the ice
storms.)

Pre-trip inspection found a ripped outer CV boot. Late-night run to the parts
store found the only in-stock split boot which would fit was '66-77 Toronado or
possibly the '78-80 Toro. I used the early version, but had to do some cutting
as it was about 110mm in diameter... a little too large. (BTW, the boot called
for in the computer for the UrQ was a 90mm... measurement of the old boot
showed more like 98-100.) So, I need to pull the axle soon to do a proper
repair. (I'll check the archives, but any hints of trouble spots would be
appreciated.)
