I don't think there ever was a V8 wagon.  What you saw was probably a
91 200Q wagon (which has the all-red tail lights and flared wheel arches).
It doesn't have the V8-style grill, however, but there is an aftermarket
lookalike kit.  Another possibility is a 95+ S6 Avant.
