Re:coolant woes



There's a couple kinds of cleaners.  You're talking about the "normal"
kind.  Luke was talking about the "super" kind.  I have a bottle of the
"super flush" sitting on my shelf.  Since it's now officially winter, I'm
waiting until spring (and now to see if Luke's radiator dies).  The problem
(as I see it) is that you can't easily drain ALL of the coolant and if you
add chemicals to the mixture, you need to do that (at least twice) to empty
and flush the flushing chemicals out.  Then you need to figure out how much
water is still in the system after the final flush and add the proper
amount of 100% antifreeze to get to the proper 50-50 mixture at the end.
Of course,I could call the local dealer and talk to a tech but it's much
more fun to let the sub-conscious ponder this for a few months before I
actually get around to doing it....
