That would be the proper way.

Not everyone has extra $80 to spend on the timing belt change.Timing belt
itself is only $20 so extra $80 is a long way from just adding couple of $.
I have done it without moving the water pump before and it's great.
And no , the pump did not fail after couple of miles.
If the original belt was properly tensioned than the new one will be fine
given it's the same i.e. same number of teeth.
It saves not only money but also time.
To remove the pump you have to drain the cooling system and remove the inner
cover etc.
Takes twice as long. Winter time it could be a matter of frosen limbs : (
for those without a heated garage.
