Re: 1992-On 100 common problems
Dear Shachar
I spoke with the owner yesterday and was pleased to learn that he was
meticulous with his car. Even thought he lives in Morgantown West
Virginia, he had his car serviced at a shop a short distance from my
home. He bought the car off lease and got Audi's extended warranty so
when the tranny went a year later, Audi replaced it with a brank new
one, hopefully the improvered version. All four rotars changed about
six months agoo (88k now), timing belt also changed on cycle but no water
pump etc replacement. I will attended to same with the next timing belt.
The cowl drain got clogged and flooded the interior. Car would not start,
he had to replace the fuel computer module under carpet on passenger side
(?) and a heated seat, etc module under back seat (?) - cost about
1,000.00 at the audi dealer. Everthing else was pulled and was ok -
problem occured about 1 1/2 years ago so I am not too concerned with any
residual expense. He replaced a power steering hose, all plugs, plug
wires, about 6 month ago. The only thing reportedly wrong with car is the
dash information symbols are on start up are fuzzy, and the check egnine
light comes on after driving 50 miles. Any ideas on the the fuzzy dash
solution? Reportedly, 92 100s has 2 oxygen
sensors, both of which are expensive, and they did not know which one was
bad. Is one more likely to be bad, or should we replace both at 88k.
Also, I have always been pleased with Bogge turbo gas on my other audis.
Was it also oem on the 92 and later models? Any suggested alternate
brands which are a reasonable compromise between ride and handling.
