RE: Timing Belt Status Peep Hole

It is near impossible to check the timing belt (short of checking the
tension may be?), very difficult to tell if it is good or bad. The best way
is to just change it in the factory recommended service intervals or
earlier. Not a good idea to wait too long. A visual inspection is not going
to help you much, might even accomplish the opposite result.

I have a '91 Audi Coupe Quattro. Original timing belt at 51,000 miles.

I would like to check the status of the timing belt as minimally invasively
as
possible.

Please advise on how I can do this sufficiently while turning as few bolts
as
possible.

Happy New Year.

Regards,

Chris
