Phil Rose <pjrose@servtech.com> (hi Phil) among others wrote about the odor
of burning rubber after snowstorms. I suspect the reason for the sudden
discovery of these odors is that the upper air plenum under the windshield
becomes blocked by snow and the internal air fan then pulls from the plenum
drains which are above the rear of the engine. Last year this effect caused
me to discover an (expensive) exhaust manifold leak that was otherwise too
subtle to notice.
